Mayor Brent Taylor and the North Ogden City Council honor Pastor David L. Duncan as the Cherry Days Grand Marshall during the Grand Marshall Dinner.

Family, friends and neighbors gathered at the annual grand marshal dinner to honor "Pastor Dave" as he is affectionately known for a lifetime of service to our community and beyond, both in religious and civic capacities.

Pastor Dave was born in Covington, Kentucky in 1933 and joined the United States Air Force after graduating from high school.  After completing his Air Force service he moved to Weber County and began a career in public service as the Deputy Weber County Treasurer.

In 1972 he ran for Utah State Treasurer and was elected, serving as the State's top financial officer from 1973 - 1976.    In 1977 he was appointed by Governor Matheson to the Utah Tax Commission.

Dave went on to serve with distinction as the Weber State University Treasurer from 1987 - 2000 completing nearly 40 years of public service to Weber County and the State of Utah.

Dave embarked on another path after being selected as Pastor of the Valley View Baptist Church in North Ogden, following many years of service in the Church.  In 2015 Pastor Dave will complete 30 years of service as Pastor, where he has been instrumental in ministering to the spiritual needs of his congregation.

Pastor Dave married Leah Stuart of Ogden in 1956.  They have three children, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
