During their July 9th meeting, the North Ogden City Council took the following action.

  • Approved the City attorney contract with Anderson Call & Wilkinson.  This extends the City's contract with this firm until June 30, 2015.
  • Asked the staff to prepare a sample all terrain vehicle ordinance.  Mr. Terry Bexell asked the City to consider permitting ATV, specifically side-by-side ATVs, to be allowed on City streets.  The staff will look at ATV definitions, age restrictions, and locations where ATVs would be permitted. The staff will also gather information regarding traffic accidents involving ATVs and other cities' experiences with these ordinances.  The staff will present their information in August.
  • Asked the staff to revise a Cherry Days transition plan.  The City Council voiced support for transferring the planning and operation of Cherry Days to a private foundation.  The transition plan includes gradually shifting the operation of Cherry Days to a private organization that the City will help to initially create.
  • Received an update from the staff regarding employee compensation and changes to the employee policy manual.  Earlier in the year, the City Council received a report from the employee compensation committee concerning the City's salaries and benefits.  A copy of this report can be found on the City's web page under the information tab.  The City Council asked the staff to prepare an implementation plan for some of the recommendations made by the committee for the Council's consideration.  This report and plan will be completed by October.
  • The City Council also reviewed the City's policy for severance pay when laying off employees as found in Chapter 4 of the employee policies and procedures manual.  The City Council asked the staff to bring back other options for revising this policy.  The staff will present the options in August.
